To promote the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, Izod IndyCar Series took over Hollywood Boulevard to throw its Race to the Party event the week before. Setting up just after dawn, participants in the drifting demonstration pooled up in front the Mann Chinese Theater with a vicious-looking assortment of import and domestic street muscle. Around noon, they let the rear-wheels do the talking and spread figure-eights in rubber all over the blacktop.
