Thirty-five years strong, the Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Celebration marks the equinox in a way only this wealthy, post-hippie beach town could. Scores of locals and adventure-seekers from all over Southern California collide in downtown Santa Barbara's historic streets to revel in the beginning of the season. Dancers whirl in the sun, DJs twist fresh vinyl and drum beats, pounded out by hand, transform the bucolic, mission city into a maelstrom of youth, energy and love.
